Now a growing number of them are showing up at emergency food pantries confused and needing help.

This has been going on in Southern California for ages - that is why the food pantry's are always on the verge of being empty...because illegal aliens - then nothing is left for legal American citizens.

Earlier this year, the state announced it would begin to fully count the income earned by all members of a household when determining food-stamp eligibility. Previously, only a portion of illegal immigrants' income was counted in the food-stamp calculation, due to limitations of an old computer system.

Hello my friend and fellow partner in educating the bleeders about illegals. I have a neighbor and her boyfriend both of Latino not mexican decent both legal in the USA, they left Cali and have educated me on all the assistance for illegals there. No wonder Cali is @!$%#ed up. They need to clean up their own crap. Now Utah which was bought and paid for thru the Treaty of Hildago(sp) is ours as is AZ. The loophole of course is the anchors. If illegals have anchors which they do and they receive money for these unfortuante used kids, they should have to prove thru receipts how the money was used for the LEGAL kids. If they abuse it STOP it and send them packing to where ever they cae from. Well crap send them packing period. We know where they are why are we not deporting them? Because the government is stalling for amnesty. And how in the hell is this illegal working?

WHo cares if they starve? If they want the benefits of this society, they need to follow ALL the rules of it. They have even less right to my tax dollars than the average welfare and foodstamp recipient does. And THEY have no right to them. Let the countries they came from support them and their brats. Ot else, work a second job for next to nothing to feed them. The children of criminals belong in their homeland, just as the criminals do. IF the children were born here, they are welcome to return, at 18, as full, native born citizens. Until then, they stay with their DEPORTED parents. can't break up the family, you know.

Neale, I agree with your post and I would like the Constitution amended to revoke the citizenship of all children born to illegals and all those children that will be born to illegals. Otherwise, the foreigner children will not be deported; I would like to turn to "plan B" in that situation, the deportation of the parents and the forced removal of the children to foster homes/group homes.

I do not want to revoke their citizenship, but I do not want to forcibly break up a family. I would opt for allowing the parents to choose to leave the children here or take them with. IF curious, read my article

It reflects what I want to see as our immigratio policy. I am curious if we'd agree on it. B TW- Stop agreeing with me- your friends will start to shun you. You don't want that!!

American food banks should be for americans and not for illegals. If they want american aid then they need to return to their countries since more than likely americans are providing aid there. America for Americans and legal immigrants.

Sorry, but food banks are to feed the "hungry" not just the American "hungry". To do otherwise would be a violation of thier mission for many.

I donate to food banks regularly (both food and money), if I found out they were denying food to *anyone* who needed it I would pull my support from such an organization in a second.

You might want to work a bit on your hate, it seems to be clouding your judgment.

april-1023405,,,I can't speak for all Food Banks, but the one near me that we donate food to requires people to show a Social Security Card for every member of the household which is applying for food assistance.

Also if the family in the article was using stolen or fake Social Security cards or numbers, they should be arrested and tried for that offense and anything of value they own confiscated to repay towards the value of the food stamps they illegal took. Then after serving their time they should be deported.

The one that I volunteered at in NJ, you didn't have to show your ss#. You had to be part of welfare and the food bank had to be notified prior by welfare that so-and-so will be using that (you couldn't walk in and expect to get food; they needed to know you from the welfare office and exactly how many lived in the household). The person would call and a check list would be made and we had to get the items and bag them. The caller is given a number and then they come and pick it up after saying what their number is. We didn't check who this person was that was picking up the food; they just said the number and got their groceries.

It's a simple problem with a simple solution : If you can not feed the children you have, do not breed more children! Si usted no puede alimentar a los hijos que tiene, no se reproducen más hijos!

The anchor baby program MUST stop, deport the illegals and their childern as well. If it were not easy to get citizenship for every child born here and they did not have access to all the freebies , the flow of pregnant Illegals would dwindle to a trickle.

Good, first and foremost for years, I heard that illegals don't get aid however, as we have noticed more when aid is cut off, there are more and more cries about women cannot feed their children. Why? And it is time that all income is counted.

Exactly! Why was their full income not counted in the first place? Mine would be! Yours would be!

As for the children, while I hate it they've been born into poverty, I have to ask, why do the mothers keep having babies they know they can't feed?

Exactly....Well...also with many of the arguments is that...no illegal aliens don't get state aid - other than fraud and identity theft...they aren't supposed to, but the American born children are legal so the parents can and do legally apply and receive aid for the children they can't afford to feed but continue to have.

What bothers me most about all of this, is the fact that our Country has taken itself to the point that brings up these debates. It's our Country, for crying out loud!

My husband and I work hard for what we have, and when we're struggling to make ends meet, there's no assistance out there for us! Why? Because we both work, and we don't have a house full of kids! I tell my husband all the time that I think we should quit our jobs and let the governemnt support us for a while instead of the other way around. Of course, we would never do that, but it's really frustrating sometimes.

In response to this paragraph:

But the families who have showed up at a pantry at St. Mark's Cathedral in Salt Lake City have not understood the bureaucratic changes and wonder if Americans are being given preference over them.

It's a shame they suffer, but they are ILLEGAL, nothing more needs to be explained and why they don't understand that is painful to try to comprehend. I now see below the reactions to this statement others share my sentiment.

As "april1023405" pointed out, the illegals children born in America are entitled to get food stamps. Do the math, the more children the illegal has the more food stamps received and the more food that they all then share at home. "Children=Dollars" to illegals.

I have to feed my family," said a mother of five who works as a housekeeper at a nursing home

Ummm... Am I missing something??? She is quoted as saying "I have to feed my family" and I agree, she does. But, if she is getting food aid in order to feed her family, then the correct quote would be "You have to feed my family". So which is it??? Does she have to fed her family or do we have to feed her family? And, where is the father of the FIVE children? And maybe you shouldn't have FIVE children and expect society to take care of them??? I am all for helping people who take responsibility for their actions. Having five children you can't afford doesn't happen by accident and it is blatently irresponsible. It is too late for her, but we need to set a tone for future generations to consider the consequences of having FIVE children while making minimum wage.

Earlier this year, the state announced it would begin to fully count the income earned by all members of a household when determining food-stamp eligibility.

I would love to hear an argument as to why we shouldn't count all their income.

Previously, only a portion of illegal immigrants' income was counted in the food-stamp calculation, due to limitations of an old computer system.

That meant, in some prior cases, that a family with several illegal immigrants might qualify for food stamps although a family of native Utahns making the same amount of money might not.

So all they have done is equalize the system. I would love to hear an argument as to why the system shouldn't be at least equal.

"We believe this is fair and equitable across the board to treat all people equally when it comes to calculating the benefits that people get when they apply for food stamps," said Curt Stewart, a spokesman for the state Department of Workforce Services, which oversees the food-stamp program.

Yes... it certainly is.

But the families who have showed up at a pantry at St. Mark's Cathedral in Salt Lake City have not understood the bureaucratic changes and wonder if Americans are being given preference over them.

LOL... what a concept.

I am so sick of these bleeding heart sob stories. I feel bad for the kids - they didn't ask born into their situation but that doesn't the rest of us must pay and pay and PAY for their parent's freedom of choice to invade our country and their continual theft of Community services.

This cry of "I need to feed my five childern" by an illegal mother is a prime example of my thoughts I posted on another seed: You get enough biting flies on an elephant and the elephant will be drained dry. The American Elephant is about 1/2 drained and going down fast. Let's toss on a few more illegal flies with their anchor baby flies. What happens when the elephant is down and out?

These illegals keep popping out more kids then they can feed. An smart person, even "a good Catholic", knows if you can't feed the kid you have you don't bring more into the world. Is it a more sinister plan to take back the SW United States by out breeding everyone else? (conspiracy theory much?) And we soft hearted Americans foot the OB bills, the hospital bill and the NICU if needed, free of charge to them. Are we stupid or what? American citizens should have it so good.

Illegals expect and demand we tax payers support them in all manners - free to extremely low cost housing, free medical care, no cost (to them) lunches, everything in Spanish because they are too damn lazy to learn the English.

The economy is so bad that many Americans are having to swallow their pride and seek help often for the first time in their lives. They finally get the nerve to ask for help and walk into the local DHS. What do they encounter - a waiting room full of illegals and their 3, 4, 5 , 6 anchor babies. My daughter use to go to a low cost OB/GYN clinic for her yearly check up. She was often the ONLY Anglo in the waiting room...The magazines were in SPanish, the information and phamlets were in Spanish and the TV set was stuck on a Spanish Telenovela. We've lived in Central American. I thought I was overseas the first time I went with her. She is way past due a check up again but will not go back there.

DEPORT THEM (and their kids) TO THE BACK OF THE LINE and let them apply to be here legaly. If that means they must wait years, then WAIT! Thousands of other people come here yearly and they do it legally. Just because you're from Mexico and dropped a few anchor babies out while you were here, does not mean you get a free pass or bumped to the head of the waiting list.

I MIGHT have felt a little bit sorry for this woman until I got to the part of the story where it became clear that the food stamps were cut because THEY NOW COUNT ALL HOUSEHOLD INCOME. So basically, these people have been receiving TOO MUCH in food stamp help for who knows how long! I can't feel sorry for people whose entitlements are cut because they make too much money to qualify for them.

Beck they do receive aid. It is a state decision. Some states give them help knowing they are illegal where the other loophole is the anchors. This is what I keep saying, illegals should have to prove where the money is going for the anchor so as not to be used by them and the other illeglas. Thats why so many live together perhaps to feed off of each other.

Personally, I'd like to see Arizona tell Obama to go Screw himself, ignore any injunctions, then SUE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT for failing to live up to it's Constitutional duties. THAT would be a fun thing to watch.

Hey Neale I have been saying they need to counter sue and I am hoping other states will also. This administration is ignoring people, I think its a delay tactic so they can shove thru amnesty. If he does that, he would be setting up a group of illegals to be harmed by others IMHO and that would be bad.

NO, Sherry. He'd have bought 11+ million new Democrat voters, and assured himself a second term. THAT would be the end of a representative republic, and the beginning of the end of the Constitution as we know it.

Any freebie to illegals should be stopped. That is why they are here, folks. Free food, medicine, housing, hospitals, doctors, education and so on and so on--billions of taxpayer dollars giving them all these things. Why are our laws allowing this in the first place??? Stop this and they will either get legal or leave.

Many americans don't look at the end results of what happens, they just want to be "nice". It is like many bills that the democrats are pushing through, they don't realize that problems that they will cause. In fact, they don't care they just want their way.

That is very true. Everyone just wants to be "a good person", and think that giving things to people actually helps them. Generally the OPPOSITE is true. If you give someone something, all you've done is reinforce a habit of not having to do for yourself. If you feed someone their entire life, they won't know how to get food for themself. If you clothe someone, they won't know how to get clothes. If you give them money, they won't know how to make money. It isn't rocket science...

The government wants people to be dependant on them. That gives them the ultimate control. If we feel like we will die without them, then they can do whatever they want and there is nothing we can do about it, because without them, we wouldn't survive.

In the end people try to do the right thing, and the government makes you believe that giving things to people is the right thing to do. In reality it is the opposite. You hurt them, and make them unable to take care of themselves. In return it hurts all of us.... It seems harsh to push the little birdy out of the nest... but that is the only way they will ever learn how to fly.

If we had never let any Mexicans in the country illegally, and stopped them from crossing the border, what would Mexico be like today? Is it perhaps the fact that we let them run away from their problems that enables their society to be as bad as it is? If they were forced to deal with it instead of fleeing to an "easier life", maybe Mexico wouldn't be the hell hole it is today.

GJL-1583541, Great point, as Mexico is ranked by the "World Bank" and The International Monetary Fund" as the 14th Richest nation in the world. If Mexican people would stand up and do something that money would not just be in the hands of a few down there.

My husband I wonder why we don't bill Mexico to recoup the money we spend caring for their people? Think how things could improve if the millions and millions of money a year spent at one hospital could recovered by Mexico and put toward helping poor and under covered American citizens and legal residences? School systems should sue for recovery of costs for every child of illegals. (Not every child of an illegal is born here.)Too many stories where a child was bought her a two year or three year old. These adult kids are crying because they believe they deserve instate tuition and all the perks of a full US Citizen.

People forget - even if one person gets legal - they often bring their extended family members to live with them. So now we end up with Momcita, babies, uncles, aunts, grandparents, first, second, third cousins. They all work and I admit they are often hard jobs for lower wages. They pool their incomes. But the legal one will apply for assitance based on their single income to help support their Sister's anchor babies and forget to mention the other household income is being sent on new cars, saved for extremely costly Quinceañeras or sent to Mexico instead of caring for their extended family here. Cry me a freakin' Rio Grande river...GO HOME! Dont drag my country down to the same level your Country is.

why dont the people who think we should support the illegals take in a family of 6 illegals and feed and support them their own selves?

They would feel different if all that support came out of their own pockets.

Illegals need to leave the nation. They do not have a right to live in America or to use any resources in America. They should all be imprisoned or deported by force.

Imprisoning them would just cost us as much money as if we fed them. I'd say either you start tagging them like animals when you catch them, and then let a satellite warn you if they cross again, or put them into labor camps for however long. 2 years for first offense, 5 for second. Life for third. Then they can be fed and clothed all they want while they build and fix our roads, maintain our government buildings, and clean our streets and towns. That would be no different than what they do in other countries if we were found there illegally. Mexico imprisons people (and if you are familiar with what constitutes a prison in Mexico... you'd realize just how horrifying the concept of that is.), other countries shoot you on sight, or at the very least imprison you.

So why are we the only country that rewards people for breaking in? Why do we feel the need to allow others to use us, and then when the situation is reversed we have no problem with the fact they kill or imprison our citizens? Why are WE the bad guy for wanting to protect our interests, when every other country in the world protects theirs? Then they criticize us, because they know we are weak willed, and half our population will break down and cry if someone says we are mean....

pathetic...

You demonstrate a reasonable argument that boarders is on the edge. Nonetheless, it raises good thoughts to consider on the illegal discussion. Certainly not one that would be accepted in the liberal political or academic castles.

I agree it is edgy, but at the same time how else do you send a message that people are NOT welcome here illegally? Catch and release does absolutely nothing because they just walk back over, nothing lost. You have to make the punishment harsh so it actually deters people from doing it. The point is for it not to happen, not to punish people. If the punishment was being shot on sight, how many would come? They would have to weigh the chance of getting killed on sight to their life in Mexico. If our border security got 9 out of 10 people, then there wouldn't be anyone even trying to come here. That being said... death is a too extreme, but short of that, you have to send a message.

Basically you have to make the punishment for coming to the US illegally worse than life in Mexico, otherwise they will still come. That is just a simple fact heh. Some might even count our prisons as a welcome reprieve from poverty, and therefore if we imprison them, then oh well. If they have to do hard labor for 2 years for nothing but food and clothing, and they knew that NEXT time they will have to do 5, and then LIFE... how many would make that 3rd trip across? heh. It is harsh, but at the same time some things demand a hard edge to get done.

If they would have just let me know, I would have been happy to come up there and redesign their computer system for them so they could address this problem. Better yet, let me design them one that only allows food stamps to go to LEGAL citizens. If the illegals need to feed their families then all they have to do is turn themselves in and they'll be fed until such time as we can deport them.

Could be she is really saying to her partner is: "Hey I need more free @!$%# so lets have another kid. What a grand idea." I mean really how much does a box of condoms cost? I am sure Planned Parenthood would pass them out at little to no cost and the same with birth control pills. She needed a free tubal ligation three kids ago or learning to say "Not tonight - honey." (And we won't start talking about the insanity surrounding that freak show Occtomom. At least she is legal. If any kids needed to be fostered or adopted out it would be hers. But that's an entirely different seed.)

Any bets as to how long before some one blames Bush, Cheney and The Tea Party for this? Any takers?

LOL! They wonder if American's are being given preference over them! This is a good example of the Arrogant mind's of the criminal's! How about as they report to the food stamp office, and pantry's to give them their rights as criminals about to be deported!

Robles saying these illegals children are the future of this Nation! Again the Arrogance of protecting illegals in this country over American Citizen's. Stop this BS now and deport these people back across the border! They can make a choice to take their anchor babies or leave them, and deny them from ever entering the United States again for the crime of Illegal Entry!

Let's set the illegal status aside for one second. In my younger years I had a child at 18. I got my first apartment worked 2 jobs, cut coupons, went to second hand stores, donated plasma to pay my bills. I ate PB&J and Ramen to provide clothing, diapers, and baby food for my son. Not once did my son go without food or clothing or one medical appointment. I NEVER applied for assistance because I was raised to hold your own. Those were the hardest days of my life, but I made it. It is 18 years later and I could never eat PB&J and Ramen again. I own a home, I have a great job (one job) and wonderful children.

I think if I can do it, than there are a large percentage that can. Now with that being said, I believe the screening for such programs should be as follows, any items before you receive welfare or assistance should be liquidated to provide for your family first so you can prove you have nothing and that the job you have does not meet.

my other idea would be create commissaries run by the government where they can get food with credits and then the government can get it at cost. The set up would be like a military commissary. I also believe that with cash allowances they should have to keep receipts for a period of time and be subject to audit..

I am not trying to be harsh, I am trying to see if there is a way to not have so much waste.

I'm waiting for RDS, American Latina and a few others to pop up on this seed and entertain us with their views on this topic. I feel bad when people, especially kids go hungry through no fault of their own. But smart, considerate, legal people know enough not to have more kids then you can support by yourself.

Marcia the illegals have kids to anchor themselves too. I give free care to them EVERY day and give them EVERYthing for free. Then 8 out of 10 stick their hands out for more. They know they are favored and intitled. I work to pay my bills and now I have to pay others over and over. You are right its a shame these selfish people expect us to care for their kids. Trust me these illegals do not miss a meal, or the ones I have seen do not. They also crowd together, work under the table collect assistance. At Christmas at the hospital they take all the presents for their sick kids and well ones, any food put out for the families they swarm with all their friends leaving nothing for other families. Ronald Mcdonald, they expect others to cook for them and they take the food then come to the hospital demanding gas and food voulchers. Bitter and done yep I guess I am.

Oh and the gal, I could read your story over and over, what a wonderful story, I worked full time and put myself thru college 3 times and took care of my son. I received no assistance, I had to pay for my college, no grants, no nothing,I alway made too much money, but I did it. That is the way it should be unless you have great support, work out of assistance don't work to stay in it.

A smart true American here

2 word's - "YOU LIE".

The GOP can find the money to do this, yet, they ignore the unemployed?. FIRE THEM ALL in 2010. PRESS 1 FOR ENGLISH. America's schools has been more controversial. Starting in 2000, the Gates Foundation spent hundreds of millions of dollars on its first big project, trying to revitalize U.S. high schools by making them smaller, only to discover that student body size has little effect on achievement.

I request some Federal Action's in this matter right here and now.

Immigration and Border Security ?. Gov. Gary R. Herbert directed all state agencies to conduct an internal review (meaning a mass cover-up before the federal audit's fly, and ICE to needs to look in this plus Homeland Security and the FBI, because it's a federal problem now, because of funding those who are receiving prenatal care through Medicaid, and those whose children are U.S. citizens and qualify for food stamps, health care and other assistance), immediately upon learning of the existence of the document, which purports to contain private data of illegal immigrants living in the state. The Utah Department of Workforce Services has identified at least two employees who are believed to be involved in the creation of a list containing the personal information of some 1,300 people. Immigration and Border Security. Utah's Gov. Gary Herbert and his worker's is aiding and abetting a criminal under U.S. law. Utah does not have a Magnet and Sanctuary State Status, and, illegal immigrants don't face a misdemeanor charge , for being here, they face a "FELONY" for violating provisions against crossing the border without proper documents or not crossing at a border station.

Utah's Gov. Gary Herbert said that at least two employees of the Utah Department of Workforce Services took information from its databases to help compile a list of 1,300 supposedly illegal immigrants. For "doing the right thing" these two employees involved were escorted out of the office and placed on administrative leave. They declined to disclose whether they continue to receive their pay and benefits. There are only two areas where people can access information about undocumented people: those who are receiving prenatal care through Medicaid, and those whose children are U.S. citizens and qualify for food stamps, health care and other assistance. Perhaps ICE to needs to look in this spot also. The governor said federal law prevents the state from turning over the list to U.S. immigration authorities. Well then, that should be changed fast. The list was distributed to news media and law enforcement agencies by an anonymous group calling for deportation of people it included. The list contained names, birth dates, addresses, phone numbers, names of children and even the due dates of several pregnant women. It contained names from all over the state. As a pre requisites beforehand, Mormon missionaries never ask, to new potential members, for a birth certificate and local residency proof before they just take it upon themselves to just baptize them, and, in their political correctness say they are just undocumented residents only, when the truth is, they are illegal immigrants, and what they are really doing is aiding and abetting a criminal under U.S. law, on a mission in America, when these Mormons reach out to Hispanics blindly like that. The other fact's are Utah does not have a Magnet and Sanctuary State Status, and, illegal immigrants don't face a misdemeanor charge , for being here, they face a "FELONY" for violating provisions against crossing the border without proper documents or not crossing at a border station. Plus the LDS Church teaches Mormons must also obey all the written laws of the land. NEVER ever defend the members, damaging the Church's image. Here to, Utah's Gov. Gary Herbert what he is doing is aiding and abetting a criminal under U.S. law, and a full Federal investigation should take place now.

Seeing the Federal Government failed us all here, those who take their obligation to protect citizens seriously and want to repel the invaders are great patriots. HOW about the Utah businesses who hire these illegal aliens, in violation of law? When will those who create the demand for cheap labor be held to account also?.

Well according to the gov. they have been auditing companys and fining them, releasing the illegals so they can move on to another place. The gov. has collected millions from the companies, yet they release the illegals and do not deport. The gov. is taking money and releasing illegals. They do fine the businesses, they just do not FINISH their job. The gov is useless.
