Authorities say 46-year-old Randall Ford went to the restaurant on Michigan Avenue just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, and tried to rob a man who was leaving the store. Police say Ford was using a box cutter as a weapon.

That's when the 32-year-old potential victim pulled out a gun and shot Ford in the neck.
